The full form of SWO in Banking is Single Window Operator. SWOs are the clerical staff of the banks. They will offer the cash payments and receipts and also clear and pass the drafts and cheques. Inorder to become a single window operator, the applicant should be a graduate and should have cleared the qualifying examination.
Responsibilities of SWOs in Banks:
The Single Window Operators play a significant role in banks. They have to acknowledge the inward mail received; they should receive the drafts, cheques, pay orders, and other financial instruments, other than bills, and give acknowledgments in the counterfoil. They are also in charge of delivering the checkbooks and issuing cash receipts.
Role of single window operators in banks:
All the SWOs shall perform all the duties and functions of their cadre, either manually or online, which will not involve passing or any supervisory function of an officer of the bank. They are also involved in passing and cash payment of all cheques and also independently clear and transfer cheques and vouchers up to Rs.10,000. They are also eligible for clearing and transferring cheques and vouchers above Rs. 25,000.
